"The Aviator's Nest,"
Page 106, in pages titled "If I Only Had Wings,"
Peter writes about the beginnings of what became our Richmond RAAF Base. He writes about people like William Percival who tried out his embryo gliders in 1914.
The concept of the Aerial Derby in 1924 at Richmond Aerodrome was to bring flying into the realm of ordinary people, with an aircraft capable of being housed in the family garage.
The Powered Parachute fits this concept admirably.
Peter Rukin finishes this Chapter by saying
"It appears you are never too young, or too old - to fly like a bird, over the Richmond Lowlands."
Thanks to Peter Rukin
Here is what our clients say;
" One of the most enjoyable, safest
and simplest forms of flying
I have ever experienced."
D.W.
"From the very young
to the very old, Anyone
can do this.
Powered Parachutes have the best
safety record of any aircraft.
I'll be back to do it again."

A SHORT NOTE ON THE FLYING LIFE OF OLIVER MALES
Oliver first saw powered parachutes in 1989 at the Hawkesbury show, he went for a fly and was hooked, at the same time an old friend David Reece was starting to fly as well, so Oliver and David taught each other how to fly and they did this at Jaspers Brush. Oliver, I and David found a property at Badgers Creek were an Airstrip was then built, in the meantime Oliver bought a frame from Victoria and then began to build his own plane, buying the necessary equipment. Then came the fly north, the flight was started from Warner Vale to raise money for kids with cancer, three thousand dollars was raised. This was the highlight of Oliver’s life, to fly a powered parachute over the tip of Australia, life was good. Then came the teaching of Students at Badgers Creek where Oliver taught quite a few to fly, Oliver climbed the ranks to become a R.O.C In 2001 I bought Oliver a new Aerochute and we traveled Australia teaching students to fly powered parachutes and looking for gold from the air, life again was great for Oliver and I. We then found out the bad news, that Oliver had Motor Neuron Disease (MND), Oliver never gave up, he had met Graeme Hutchinson and found that Graeme had the same passion for flying that he had, he taught him to become an Instructor, Senior Instructor & then C.F.I and how to run a flying school. So Graeme came up in the ranks and Oliver & Graeme began the journey of someone taking over from Oliver to keep his dream alive. And that is what has happened, Graeme has a flying school and has a great set up at Richmond in NSW.Oliver was last at the field in April 2005 and was very pleased to see his dream come alive in front of him, Oliver was always ready, willing and able to help anyone, anywhere in Australia to live there dream of flying. Oliver also had a school in South Australia at Truro, he had a full life and lost his battle with this disease on the 5th May 2005, he was 58.
